The Yü Asian cuisine app was a fictional project requested as a design exercise about the user experience and user interface areas.

It was made by me and my colleague.

Project Goal

The main goal was to choose an existing restaurant and design a digital solution to fit their needs.

The chosen restaurant was an Asian cuisine one, placed in my home town, Curitiba.

The mapped problem of the restaurant was the waiting lines during lunch hours. Seeking to help in this situation, I and my colleague planned a smartphone application to allow the client to choose their dish and order it, anywhere they are on their phones. It was also planned a local interface in a tablet, the Yü experience, to use while waiting for your plate or table, inside the restaurant.

Design Process

My role in the project was as the UX designer, while my colleague was the UI designer.

Both of us participated in the idealization phases. After the solution planning, I made the wireflow and interaction plan, and my colleague did the high-end prototype.

Challenges

The main challenge in this project was the scope.

Because the initial scope was pretty wide, it took us some time to decide exactly what we were going to do. We brainstormed a lot of ideas, as it is shown in the “Mapa conceitual” (conceptual map) in the report below.

Once we decided what was our solution for the restaurant, the project continued smoothly.
